GravelMaps

Privacy Policy

GravelMaps is an offline navigation app. It does not send your location, routes, or usage data to us. What follows is the detail.

Data we collect

None, by default. GravelMaps does not run analytics, does not report crashes automatically, does not phone home. The app does not have a server-side account system, and there is no "GravelMaps" backend that receives your data during normal use.

Data the app handles on your device

The following data is created and stored locally on your device. It does not leave the device unless you explicitly share it.

Permissions

When data does leave your device

Only in these specific cases, and only when you initiate them:

What we do not do

Cookies on this website

This website (gravelmaps.app) does not set cookies itself. It does not run analytics or tracking. The only cookies you may encounter are set by our hosting provider Cloudflare (e.g. __cf_bm, _cfuvid) to protect the site against automated abuse. These are considered strictly necessary for the service to operate and are exempt from consent requirements under EU ePrivacy rules.

If we ever add analytics or functionality that uses non-essential cookies, we will update this page and surface a consent prompt before any such cookies are set.

Children

GravelMaps is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Map data and attribution

Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). See the in-app About → Copyright screen for full upstream attribution.

Australian privacy law

GravelMaps is developed in Australia. We aim to handle personal information in a way consistent with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), regardless of whether a small-business exemption technically applies. Because the app does not collect personal information server-side, most APP obligations do not arise in practice.

If you believe your privacy has been mishandled in relation to GravelMaps, please contact us first at support@gravelmaps.app so we can investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Changes to this policy

If we change what data the app handles, we will update this page and bump the revision date below. For material changes (e.g. if we ever introduce analytics or a cloud sync feature), we will surface the change in the app before it takes effect.
